Dear members,

The transport sector has a lot to offer to the 'Smart City' concept. Polis wants to ensure that local urban mobility stakeholders can pursue Smart City objectives - without transport being made subsidiary to other sectors such as energy. We have therefore been working on a Polis position on Smart Cities, the role of transport and of local/regional transport authorities.

We wish to invite all Polis members to share their comments on the draft paper, and to contribute by sending good practice examples that can make the document more lively and concrete. Read more about the Smart Cities paper below.

Also this week, two major events are taking place where Polis is well represented: The ITS World Congress is taking place in Bordeaux (France) while the CIVITAS Forum starts today in Ljubljana (Slovenia) under the theme 'Sharing the City’. Follow Polis' twitter account for updates from Bordeaux and Ljubljana!

For now, I wish you a pleasant read!

Yours sincerely,
Karen Vancluysen
Secretary General
