Dear members,

We are all very shocked by the terrible attacks that took place in Brussels yesterday, which targeted important transport nodes in our city that we use every day. We extend our deepest sympathy to Polis member Brussels, which was hit in the heart so severely by these horrible events. Our thoughts are with all victims and their families, with the Brussels region and public transport operator STIB.

We are also deeply moved by and very grateful for the numerous expressions of support and sympathy that we have received from you, our members! Luckily, all Polis staff members are safe and doing well, even though some of us were very close to the places that were hit. Your kind words really mean a lot to us.

European mayors urge clampdown on diesel emissions

The mayors of 20 European cities including Madrid and Paris have called for more stringent European regulations to tackle the deadly levels of air pollution caused by diesel vehicles, reports Euractiv.

New “road-book” published by Apulia Region: Bicitalia 10, cycling from Bari to Naples and Matera in Southern Italy

Polis member Apulia Region is pleased to announce its lastest publication on cycling. Following the success of the road book of the Adriatic Cycle Route in the Apulia Region, itinerary No. 6 in the Bicitalia network, it is now ready the road book of the whole "Bourbon Cycle Route", Bari to Naples, which proposes a side trip to Matera, in homage to the City of the Sassi, the European Capital of Culture in 2019.

Pigeon Air Patrol to track air quality in London

The city of London is severly affected by air pollution and various measures have been taken to lower emissions. Now a new patrol is in charge of tracking air quality and contribute to raising awareness of health issues among the population: the Pigeon Air Patrol.

European sustainable urban mobility awards: SUMP and EMW Award finalists revealed

The European Commission revealed the names of the finalist cities and towns for the EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK Award 2015 and the 4th SUMP Award. Polis members Utrecht and West Midlands are among the shortlisted cities.
