August 2017

Dear members,

I hope you all had a relaxing summer break! InfoPolis also returns to you now with interesting news and events from our network and an outlook on autumn.

First of all, let me convey on behalf of the entire Polis team, our deepest sympathy to our member Barcelona after the cruel terrorist attack that shocked yet another open, tolerant and multicultural European city. Now more than ever we wish the city and its citizens a lot of strength and determination to recover from this tragedy and to reaffirm our core democratic values and freedom.

Polis and its Traffic Efficiency & Mobility Working Group are glad to announce that the discussion paper MOBILITY AS A SERVICE: IMPLICATIONS FOR URBAN AND REGIONAL TRANSPORT has now been published and can be consulted on the Polis website. The purpose of this paper is to shed light on the MaaS concept, create a common understanding among local and regional authorities, and determine the best role for them in the MaaS environment in order to fully unlock the potential that this new transport concept represents for our cities.

On the 5th of September in Brussels, Polis together with the European Regions Research and Innovation Network (ERINN), will meet at the Ile-de-France premises to discuss the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) and Urban Vehicle Access Regulations with Karima Delli, Chair of the European Parliament’s TRAN Committee. You have time until tomorrow to register! Make sure to inform your Brussels offices as well!

We also hope to see you at the upcoming Polis working group meeting on Bike Sharing Schemes which will be hosted by our member Manchester, on 26 September 2017. The workshop - organised back to back with the second UK Bike Share conference on 27-28 - will closely look at the dock-less (free-floating) bike share schemes which are spreading rapidly across Europe.

More meetings are lined up for you later this autumn, so make sure to check this InfoPolis to learn more about them and mark your calendars!

Please login to the Polis website as a member to access all information addressed to Polis members only (green headlines). If you do not remember your login details, don’t hesitate to contact us.
