March 2018

Dear members,

Last Tuesday, the Polis Management Committee had its first 2018 meeting, under the presidency of Transport for Greater Manchester. At this meeting, the city of Madrid was appointed by the Management Committee as the new Polis Vice-President, while the city of Aarhus took up the role of Polis treasurer. Along with Madrid and Aarhus, this meeting also welcomed new members Helmond and La Rochelle to the table, which were elected as well at the last Polis Annual General Assembly. We look forward to working with them!

The FLOW and TRACE Final Conference “Decongesting Europe: New approaches to freeing our cities”, hosted by Polis on 13-14 March, was a real success! I would like to thank everyone who attended the conference and those who contributed to making it happen. All the presentations and the photos of the event are online.

On Monday 12 March, the Polis Working Group meeting on Health and Transport discussed air quality, safe walking and cycling, and strategies for placemaking and healthy streets. For an overview of the upcoming Polis Working Group meetings, please visit this page.

I would also like to remind you that you can still apply to join the SUMP Learning Programme. The call, launched by the CIVITAS SUMPs-Up project, addresses planning authorities that are already engaged in sustainable mobility planning in their local contexts. For more information on the admission requirements, please visit the project website. The deadline to apply is 8 April 2018.

Please login to the Polis website as a member to access all information addressed to Polis members only (green headlines). Do not hesitate to contact us if you do not remember your login details.

I wish you a pleasant read.

Kind regards,

Karen Vancluysen
