Dear members,

It was a pleasure to meet many of you last week in Nicosia, Cyprus, at the 5th European Conference on Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans! Hundreds of participants from all over Europe and beyond attended and contributed to a successful event. All presentations are now online and you can access them through this link.

Polis welcomes the European Commission 3rd Mobility Package which paves the way for a cleaner and safer transport system in Europe. It includes thirteen different proposals looking at themes such as road safety and automation, CO2 targets for heavy-duty vehicles for the first time and also a new communication for tackling air quality which addresses air in cities and puts urban transport emissions as a priority. Last but not least, we are delighted to kick-off our new Polis horizontal Pillar dedicated to Governance which focuses on topics such as SUMPs, Smart Cities, financing, co-creation and much more. All interested members are invited to attend the first meeting which will take place in Paris on 3 - 4 July and will focus on regulating disruptive innovation and introducing politically sensitive but effective measures. Global Alliance Formed to Standardize Parking Data

Three major parking associations join forces to develop an international parking data standard. The Alliance for Parking Data Standards (APDS), recently formed by the International Parking Institute (IPI), the British Parking Association (BPA), and the European Parking Association (EPA), is a not-for-profit organization with the mission to develop, promote, manage, and maintain a uniform global standard that will allow organizations to share parking data across platforms worldwide.

EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK 2018: Registration now open

Any town or city, from both Europe and further beyond, is invited to participate in EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2018, which will take place on 16-22 September 2018.

Successful ELIPTIC Final Conference

ELIPTIC held a conference with leading public transport and industry figures to disuss its succeses and bring the project to a close (Bremen, 26-27 April 2018). Over 100 participants attended the conference.

Vital Nodes is about freight transport in the Urban Nodes of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). It aims at developing sustainable mobility within the urban nodes, addressing the multi- and intermodal connection between long-distance and last-mile freight logistics. The 5th European Conference on Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) took place on 14 and 15 May in Nicosia. Polis, as a partner in the Eltis consortium, organises three editions of the event.

7th SUMP Award: Submit your application until 1 October!

Cities and regions are invited to submit an application for the European SUMP Award until Monday 1st October. The award is presented for excellence in sustainable urban mobility planning, this year specifically for its capacity to address multimodality.
