September 2019

Dear members,

The Polis Working Group on Road Safety, in cooperation with EUROCITIES, developed a City Declaration on Road Safety which will be officially launched on 16th September with the start of the European Mobility Week. It is not enough to just promote walking and cycling – authorities are embracing the challenging task to also make these modes safe for all citizens. The declaration outlines 10 key principles that aim to inspire local authorities across Europe and beyond to re-consider their approach to road safety and make it a strategic policy-making tool for sound and effective action. We invite all our member cities and regions to individually support this declaration. Many thanks already to Polis members Arad, Helmond, Arnhem Nijmegen, Madrid, Lisbon, Barcelona, Berlin and London who have promptly signed it off.

I would also like to invite you to take part in Get Our Cities Moving, a one-day event co-organised by Polis and Autonomy in Paris on 17 October 2019. The purpose of this event is to connect mobility innovators with cities and regions and foster cooperation in the field of sustainable and innovative urban mobility. The format of the event will be fun and dynamic with panel discussions, keynotes, and interactive innovation pitches. Please, click here to register and get a free pass!

I look forward to meeting you at our events and in the meantime wish you a pleasant read!

Kind regards,

Karen Vancluysen

Secretary General
