Dear members,

This year's EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK was a great success, with many cities and regions across Europe showing their commitment to safer and more sustainable mobility. Ten cities and regions signed the declaration “The New Paradigm for Safe City Streets”, launched on 16 September by Polis and EUROCITIES. The declaration highlights the key role that local and regional authorities play in building safe mobility ecosystems. If you are willing to sign the declaration, please contact Dagmar Koehler. A signing ceremony is planned as part of the closing plenary session at the Polis conference on 28 November.

October will be an exciting month, with many interesting events on mobility taking place. We hope to see many of you next week in Graz at the CIVITAS Forum Conference 2019. Many members of the Polis staff will be there, moderating sessions and hosting workshops, so don’t hesitate to come talk to us! If you haven’t signed up yet to attend the Working Group meeting on Traffic efficiency, held in cooperation with EMTA on 14-15 October in Paris, you can do so here. Make sure to stay in Paris afterwards for the Autonomy summit and join us for the Polis-Autonomy ‘Get our Cities Moving’ programme! Head to our key events section for a full overview of events you should look out for.

I wish you a pleasant read and hope to see many of you soon at one of our events!

Kind regards,

Karen Vancluysen
Secretary General

Secretary General Karen Vancluysen gave a keynote speech on micromobility in cities at the World Collaborative Mobility Congress on 19 September in Bern.
