Dear members,

We are pleased to present this dense and final issue of InfoPolis before taking a summer break. Take a close look below at the many possibilties for members to exchange with your peers across Europe or to get involved in European initiatives, and save the dates for the upcoming Polis events and Working Group meetings!

To better plan the second half of the year we also improved the calendar of events on the Polis website: A calendar view of events per month now gives you a better overview of upcoming events. Note that events restricted to Polis members are displayed seperately and are only visible after login!

Therefore, always make sure to browse the Polis website while you are logged in as a Polis member! Contact us if you do not know your login details!

We will be back with InfoPolis in the second half of August and whish all our members a pleasant summer time!

Brussels Regional Parking Plan adopted

The Brussels Regional parking plan is approved by the Brussels Regional Government. The plan introduces regional principles and tools for better parking management. The plan brings a better balance between the regional competences and competences of the 19 Brussels districts or 'communes'.

18 promotional actions are awarded funding within the European Commission's Sustainable Urban Mobility Campaign "Do the right mix". This includes an activitity in Örebro, Sweden. Each action will receive up to EUR 7000.

New ambitions and new actions for cycling in Aalborg

Last month, a new Cycling Action Plan was approved by the technical committee at the City of Aalborg. The action plan is the third of its kind (following one in 2005 and in 2009). Polis interviewed project manager of the plan, Anne Marie Lautrup Nielsen from City of Aalborg, about important new features in the plan.

“Aalborg is a municipality with 200,000 citizens – and sometimes you feel like all of them are engaged in traffic planning”, Anne Marie Lautrup Nielsen says as one of the first things, and compares it with Denmark as a nation of 6 million football managers. “In the process of making this plan we wanted to listen to what they are saying trying to create a process with focus on inclusion”.

A wide range of citizens representing many groups were invited to a dedicated cycling workshop in March. In April, more than 350 comments were received on Facebook through a hearing on how to improve the conditions for cyclists... CONTINUE READING.
