MERCX project to optimise cycle policies

18 October 2011

The MERCX project (Managing Energy Reduction through Cycling eXcellence) had its kick-off meeting in Groningen, October 12-14, 2011.

MERCX project brings together six champion cities in cycling policy, like Polis members Burgos, Edinburgh and Örebro. The aim is for cities to learn from each other’s experiences, in order to find new ways to further improve and optimize their cycle policy. The final goal is to not only make cycling even more safe and attractive in the participant cities, but also to facilitate the exchange of best practices with other cycling cities.

Polis is the leader of Work Package 7 on Dissemination, and Polis member Örebro is the leader of Work Package 3 on Implementation. Polis member Edinburgh and Burgos will bring expertise and know-how about being a leading cycling city in Scotland and Spain.
