Polis presented position paper on active travel at Healthy Cities symposium in Dresden

19 June 2012

Last week, Polis presented its activities on transport and health at the 10th anniversary of Germany’s Healthy Cities network in Dresden. Participants from local and regional health authorities recognised the close link between the sectors and the need for joint action to secure the health benefits of walking and cycling.

Healthy Cities is a global movement initiated by the World Health Organisation (WHO) with currently 30 national networks. Polis was invited to speak at the symposium following last year’s Polis Working Group meeting on health, which included a WHO contribition "Assessing Health impacts of Transport" by Francesca Racioppi. Also this year's Polis position paper on active travel and its impact on health was presented and distributed to the network.

The presentation is available here (in German).
